About Me

Eric Horan
Eric Horan is a commercial photographer based in Beaufort, South Carolina. He graduated from the Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs with a degree in Commercial Art and Photography. His first job was photographing wildlife for the Colorado Fish, Games and Parks Department.  Observing wildlife behavior, from Big Horn sheep, elk & coyotes to bullfrogs, opened the door to a life long study and appreciation of the natural world.

From wildlife photography, Horan furthered his training in New York City, where he assisted some of the top photographers working in the commercial photography industry.  In 1990, he established his own commercial photography business in the lowcountry, Eric Horan Photography, Inc. www.horanphoto.com and began servicing the growing resort development in the region, while continuing to pursue his passion outdoors.  In 2000, Horan founded Southern Light Photographic, www.southernlight.biz the publishing & photography fine art & gift line, providing a retail & wholesale outlet for his natural history images. Among the products available are his tabletop photography book Carolina Nature, A Photographer’s view of the Natural World of the Carolinas with over 200 images, and his annual photographic calendar featuring premier images of the coastal southeast. Eric has also published an annual wall calendar from Beaufort County on the Carolina coast since 1990. This years calendar title is “South Carolina Lowcountry 2010” and has over 24 full color nature and wildlife images plus the coastal tide charts. The calendar has won a national calendar award for four years running from CMA (calendar marketing association). Eric also leads wildlife photo tours for nature photographers, of all skill levels, in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.

He has received notable awards in prestigious competitions covering a range of subject matter.
